The controversy surrounding the alleged sting operation targeting former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken a fresh turn. After the Bengaluru police reportedly said that the allegations portrayed in the viral video were fabricated, many believed the issue would gradually die down. However, the investigation has now brought Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s name into the discussion. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh said that a mobile phone allegedly used to upload the video was handed over to another person at Kumaraswamy’s official residence in New Delhi. The information was based on the statement of accused Ritesh Pandey and is still being verified by the police.
According to the police, Pandey and another person, Vinod Sharma, allegedly purchased the mobile phone in Delhi on the instructions of Prajwal Prasad and later handed it over to him at the minister’s residence. Police are examining CCTV footage, digital evidence and financial transactions to establish the sequence of events. Notices have reportedly been issued to Prajwal Prasad and Vinod Sharma. However, the police commissioner clarified that Kumaraswamy’s direct involvement in the alleged operation has not been established and that it is too early to draw conclusions. Kumaraswamy has also rejected the allegations and criticised the police claims.
