A tragic incident off the coast of Oman has left a family in Visakhapatnam devastated after marine engineer Patnala Suresh lost his life in an attack on a commercial vessel. Suresh’s wife, Bhargavi, said she initially believed her husband had survived by jumping into the sea during the attack, as he had prior maritime experience. Despite receiving information that he was missing, she remained hopeful and reassured family members that he would return safely. However, the family was later informed that his body had been identified, bringing heartbreaking confirmation of his death.
Suresh, a resident of Srinivas Nagar in Sriharipuram, Visakhapatnam, is survived by his wife, two school-going sons, and elderly parents. According to Bhargavi, she last spoke to him on the night of June 9, when he called to check on the family before ending the conversation. Suresh was serving as Chief Engineer on a commercial cargo vessel and had recently planned to terminate his overseas contract and return home after completing cargo operations. Bhargavi has appealed to the government to facilitate the early transportation of his mortal remains and provide financial support for her children’s education. Local representatives have assured the family of all possible assistance.
