A historic peace agreement between the United States and Iran has brought an end to over three months of tensions in West Asia. The deal is set to be formally signed later this week, drawing positive reactions from countries across the world, including India. Welcoming the agreement, nations expressed hope for lasting peace and stability in the region. India stated that the deal would ensure free and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and reaffirmed its support for all efforts aimed at regional peace and security.
Global leaders also hailed the development as a major diplomatic breakthrough. Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz, France’s President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized the need for swift implementation of the agreement. They highlighted the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions, ensuring maritime safety, and addressing concerns related to Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs. The agreement is also expected to boost the global economy and encourage other conflict zones, such as Russia–Ukraine, to pursue peaceful resolutions.
