The Irrigation Department has decided to implement a short tender system to complete canal repair works quickly. Works worth ₹10 lakh were earlier being executed through nomination by irrigation associations, but the department has now shifted to a faster tendering process to clear pending works efficiently.
Officials have identified around 6,502 works valued above ₹10 lakh. During a recent review, N. Chandrababu Naidu directed that all works be completed before the monsoon season to ensure water supply to every acre. Special Chief Secretary Shashibhushan Kumar has issued orders to complete the tender process within seven days and expedite project execution.
