Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman advised Income Tax Department officials to work in the interest of common people and avoid making them run around offices for minor tasks. She stressed that officials must perform their duties with honesty and efficiency, while expressing dissatisfaction over the negligent attitude in some government departments.
Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Aaykar Sindhu’ building in Mumbai, she pointed out that if even a government agency faces hurdles in obtaining approvals, the difficulties faced by common citizens can be imagined. She urged officials to proactively deliver services without delay while adhering to rules. She also expressed concern that ordinary citizens still struggle to access their rightful services.
