Don’t Risk Promotions Over Disputes, DGP C.V. Anand Tells Officers

Telangana DGP C.V. Anand has urged officers from the 1991, 1995 and 1996 batches of Sub-Inspectors, who are currently serving as DSPs, not to risk their promotions over differences. He assured them that he would take up the issues surrounding their promotions with the Chief Minister and work towards a permanent solution. The DGP held a meeting with several officers from the three batches at his office. The meeting was convened amid a dispute over the seniority list, with several officers approaching courts even as 37 Additional Superintendent of Police posts are currently vacant across the state.

Law and Order DG Mahesh Bhagwat and Multizone-I and II IGs Chandrasekhar Reddy and Shanawaz Qasim attended the meeting. DGP Anand said promotions could be granted at the earliest if all the officers extended their cooperation. He said 37 DSPs would be promoted immediately. Following the meeting, officers from the three batches belonging to the Warangal Zone and Hyderabad City reportedly expressed willingness to withdraw their cases. The DGP’s office said on Tuesday that the development could help bring the promotion issue closer to a resolution.
