A shocking attack took place at a high school in Rapthadu, Anantapur district, where a Class 10 student was allegedly attacked with a saw inside her classroom. According to reports, the assailant entered the school while a second-period class was underway and attacked the girl. The sudden incident caused panic, with students running out of the classroom. The victim suffered severe injuries to her right hand and face and was shifted to Anantapur Government Hospital. Her condition was reported to be critical. The girl’s relatives expressed anger over how the attacker managed to enter the school carrying a dangerous tool. Her aunt said the student had never complained about anyone troubling her and demanded strict punishment for the accused, regardless of whether he was a relative.
Police have reportedly made progress in the investigation and detained a suspect identified as Hemanth at Dharmavaram railway station. He is suspected to be the victim’s maternal uncle. Initial reports suggest that the attack may have been motivated by the girl rejecting his alleged romantic advances. However, the motive and the exact circumstances are subject to police investigation. A teacher reportedly said that only five teachers were present at the school at the time, as other staff members were unavailable due to election-related duties. Police are continuing their investigation into the attack.
