Due to the effects of pollution in Delhi, classes are being conducted in a hybrid mode.

Due to the effects of pollution in Delhi, classes are being conducted in a hybrid mode.

Schools across Delhi have shifted to a hybrid mode of classes for students from Classes 1 to 9 and Class 11 with immediate effect, following a sharp deterioration in air quality. The Directorate of Education issued directions to government, government-aided, and recognised private schools, including institutions run by NDMC, MCD, and the Delhi Cantonment Board.

As per the order, schools must conduct classes through a combination of physical and online modes. Students and their guardians have the option to choose online classes where available. However, Classes 10 and 12 are excluded from the hybrid arrangement. Schools were instructed to inform parents immediately about the change.

To ensure strict implementation, district and zonal education officers have been directed to visit schools under their jurisdiction and monitor compliance. The move comes as authorities enforced stricter measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).

Delhi recorded its worst air quality of the year, with the 24-hour average Air Quality Index touching 431 and later crossing 450, pushing pollution levels into the severe-plus category. Officials cited unfavourable meteorological conditions, calm winds, and accumulation of pollutants as reasons for escalating GRAP measures to Stage IV.
