Delhi Govt Drops Action Against NEET Protesters, Exempts Those With Criminal History

The Delhi Government has announced that it will not initiate legal action against protesters who demonstrated at Jantar Mantar against the alleged NEET examination paper leak. The government directed the Delhi Police not to pursue legal proceedings against those who participated in the protests, providing relief to the demonstrators. However, it clarified that the exemption would not apply to individuals with prior criminal records, in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court.

The government also stated that 13 cases were registered in connection with the protests held on July 29. The demonstrations, organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) as part of its "Chalo Parliament" campaign, turned tense after a large number of protesters gathered near Parliament. Police resorted to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd, following which several protesters were booked. The government has now clarified its stand on the legal action arising from the protests.
