The Civil Supplies Department in Telangana has taken special measures to effectively monitor LPG distribution across the state. As part of these efforts, Civil Supplies Commissioner Stephen Ravindra inaugurated a 24/7 multi-agency Command and Control Center. Officials stated that the center has been established to enable real-time monitoring of LPG distribution statewide. Through real-time GPS tracking, the transportation and delivery of gas cylinders will be closely monitored. Representatives from IOCL, BPCL and HPCL, along with officials from the police, industries department and distributor representatives, are part of the Command and Control Center. Commissioner Stephen Ravindra also noted that coordination is being maintained with district-level officials to review field-level situations. He further directed oil marketing companies to provide GPS tracking access for their fleet operations.
Officials also stated that the Command and Control Center will continuously monitor LPG transportation, stock levels and district-wise distribution across the state. In addition to this facility, a Civil Supplies toll-free number 1967 has been made available for public assistance. Meanwhile, Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said that there is currently some confusion across the country regarding LPG supply. He explained that a video conference was held with all district collectors to review the situation and a separate meeting was also conducted with representatives of oil companies.
The minister further stated that Telangana currently has 810 LPG distributors, with around 1.3 crore domestic consumers and 7.5 lakh commercial consumers. On average, about 60 lakh domestic cylinders are used every month. He clarified that there is no shortage of domestic LPG cylinders, but there has been a reduction in the supply of commercial cylinders. Normally, around 23,000 commercial cylinders are supplied daily, but currently only about 6,200 cylinders are being supplied. Priority is being given to schools, colleges and central and state government institutions for commercial cylinder supply. He warned that strict action will be taken against anyone who deliberately tries to create artificial shortages. To assist the public, a Command Control Room and Helpline Center have also been established at the Civil Supplies Bhavan and the helpline number 180042500344 has been provided.
