Horrific Road Accident in South Africa: 21 Killed in Three-Vehicle Collision

A horrific road accident in South Africa’s Western Cape province has claimed the lives of at least 21 people. The accident occurred on the N1 highway between Prince Albert and Leeu-Gamka, around 380 kilometres east of Cape Town. According to authorities, two minibus taxis collided head-on late on Sunday night.

Shortly after the initial collision, an SUV crashed into the two damaged minibuses, turning the incident into a major three-vehicle accident. At least four people sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospitals for treatment. The N1 highway was closed at the accident site as emergency teams and investigators carried out rescue and assessment operations. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, while officials have warned that the death toll could increase.
