Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged the Central Government to intervene in ensuring the state’s rightful share of Tungabhadra river waters and to coordinate with partner states for effective utilization. He stated that Telangana is entitled to 15.9 TMC of water, but currently receives only around five to six TMC, causing concern over irrigation needs.
The Chief Minister held a review meeting at Jalasoudha on the Tungabhadra project, RDS, and inter-state water disputes with officials and ministers. He expressed concern over the safety of the RDS anicut and stressed urgent modernization works of the Rajoli Banda Diversion Scheme. He also directed officials to expedite pending works and explore alternative water utilization methods, including increasing the capacity of the Mallamma Kunta balancing reservoir under the Thummilla lift irrigation scheme.
