Congress Leader Booked Over Alleged Animal Sacrifice During Bonalu

Patancheru police have registered a case against Congress leader Neelam Madhu Mudiraj following allegations of an animal sacrifice during Bonalu celebrations in Chitkul village. According to the complaint, the alleged sacrifice took place on August 5, 2026, and videos of the incident were circulated on social media, drawing criticism from animal welfare activists. The complaint was filed by Adupuram Gautham, Cruelty Prevention Manager of the Stray Animal Foundation of India.

The complainant said a team visited Chitkul on August 6 and confirmed that a buffalo sacrifice had allegedly taken place. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, citing the law relating to the killing of animals. Sub-Inspector N. Raju is investigating the case. Animal rights activists have welcomed the FIR and demanded strict action against everyone allegedly involved. Neelam Madhu Mudiraj had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Medak as a Congress candidate and lost to BJP's Raghunandan Rao.
