Government Talks with Gig Workers Successful

Talks between the Telangana government and gig and platform workers’ unions concluded successfully in Hyderabad. Following a positive response from the government on workers’ demands and issues, union representatives announced the withdrawal of the proposed strike scheduled from August 8. Labour, Employment, Training & Factories and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkataswamy held discussions with union leaders, focusing on workers’ welfare, social security, and key concerns.

The minister stated that the government has introduced a dedicated welfare law to protect the rights of gig workers and ensure social security. He assured that detailed guidelines for effective implementation will be released soon. The government remains committed to addressing workers’ demands. Expressing satisfaction over the discussions, union leaders decided to call off the strike, placing trust in the government’s efforts.
