An Indian content creator living in Connecticut has sparked online discussion after sharing the cost of a private preschool she visited for her two-year-old daughter. Sonal Choudhary said the preschool has two teachers for a group of just eight children and offers activities including songs, yoga, creative sessions, games and age-appropriate learning.
The fee, however, surprised her. Attending two days a week costs around Rs.4 lakh per year, while a five-day schedule costs nearly Rs.9 lakh. Classes run from September to the end of June, from 8:45 am to 11:45 am. Sonal said the smaller classes and individual attention helped explain the high fee, but the cost has nevertheless triggered debate online about private preschool expenses in the US. She also noted that government schooling from kindergarten through Grade 12 is generally free in America.
