Team India’s Test squad for the Sri Lanka series has been changed, with Sarfaraz Khan replacing Sai Sudharsan. Sudharsan has been ruled out of the series after failing to fully recover from a right big-toe injury. Sarfaraz is expected to join the squad ahead of the first Test in Galle on August 15.
Sarfaraz earned the call-up after strong performances in domestic cricket and impressive innings in the IPL. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shaik Rasheed and Sarfaraz were among the players considered for the vacant spot, with the selectors opting for Sarfaraz based on his Ranji experience and previous Test performances, including his half-centuries against England. The second Test between India and Sri Lanka will be played on August 23.
