CM Revanth Reddy Meets Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Hyderabad’s Madhapur. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju and senior officials were present at the meeting. Revanth thanked the Union Minister for allocating 2 lakh houses to Telangana in the first phase under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). Recalling his representation submitted to the Centre in July seeking houses for 11,56,915 eligible rural families, the Chief Minister urged the Centre to allocate the remaining 9.56 lakh houses as well.

The Chief Minister also briefed Chouhan on the impact of El Niño and drought-like conditions on the state, including increased electricity consumption in the agriculture sector. He said the state government had prepared advance plans to prevent shortages of drinking water and power and sought the Centre’s support to address the impact of El Niño on agriculture. Revanth said Telangana was providing fine rice to the poor through ration shops and offering a ₹500 bonus for fine paddy to encourage farmers. He also said farmers were being encouraged to adopt alternative crops and that an international-standard fruits and vegetables market was being developed across 250 acres. He sought support for promoting crop diversification and rotation.
