Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the precautionary measures and ground-level preparedness in the state in view of Cyclone Murasu. He held a video conference with officials and district collectors from the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) centre to assess the situation. Officials informed him that moderate to heavy rainfall was likely in South Coastal Andhra, low-lying areas and Rayalaseema districts. They also estimated that rainfall in the Nagarjuna Sagar and Pulichintala project catchment areas could increase inflows, potentially bringing around 13 to 15 TMC of water into the reservoirs.
Officials said the power department was on alert and had made arrangements to address possible damage. They reported that around 31,000 electricity poles had earlier been shifted to field locations from Srikakulam to Krishna district ahead of Cyclone Arnab. The department estimated that nearly 8,000 poles could be damaged in South Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema due to Murasu’s impact. Chandrababu directed officials to keep personnel and essential equipment ready, manage water efficiently and store available water in tanks and reservoirs across Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, Nellore and Markapuram regions. Although officials expected Murasu to have a relatively lower impact than the previous cyclone, the Chief Minister stressed that there should be no complacency.
