BRS Parliamentary Party Leader Vaddiraju Ravichandra sought details in the Rajya Sabha on the measures being taken by the Central Government to ensure passenger safety, maintain discipline on flights, and promote courteous behaviour by airline staff. Responding to the query, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has comprehensive regulations and dedicated mechanisms to safeguard passengers, aircraft, and aviation assets while maintaining order during air travel.
The minister said the DGCA's Civil Aviation Requirements include specific guidelines titled "Handling of Unruly and Disruptive Passengers" under Section 3, Air Transport, Series M, Part 6. He also noted that separate cabin safety guidelines are in place for passengers with special needs. To improve passenger services, the ministry operates a 24x7 Passenger Assistance Control Room and coordinates with the DGCA, Airports Authority of India, and airlines to resolve complaints related to baggage, flight operations, and refunds. The AirSewa portal and mobile app have also been introduced for faster grievance redressal.
