The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted coordinated searches at more than 80 locations across the country in connection with alleged “digital arrest” scams, leading to the arrest of two accused individuals. The large-scale operation was part of an intensified effort to dismantle cyber fraud networks exploiting fear and misinformation to extort money from unsuspecting victims.
Sources revealed that the CBI also uncovered a fraudulent website with a URL deceptively similar to the official website of the Supreme Court of India. The accused allegedly used this fake domain to mislead victims by impersonating authorities and carrying out scams under the pretext of “digital arrest,” highlighting the growing sophistication of cybercrime tactics.
