

A businessman involved in civil contracts in Revunagari was allegedly honey-trapped and extorted of ₹2.77 crore, with threats of harm made later, according to police in Karnataka. The Urva police have arrested two accused in the case, including Nizam alias Ibrahim, a district youth Congress general secretary from Dakshina Kannada, and his associate Jitesh.
Police said the accused initially befriended the businessman through a woman and later blackmailed him using intimate photos and videos, demanding an additional ₹35 lakh. Under pressure, the victim paid ₹20 lakh in cash and issued a cheque of ₹15 lakh, which later bounced. As threats continued, the victim approached police. Further investigation is underway to trace the women and other involved persons.
