In a major crackdown on fraudulent recruitment, the Bihar government has decided to dismiss more than 3,000 teachers who allegedly secured government jobs using fake degrees and forged educational certificates.State Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari announced that criminal cases will be registered against those found guilty. The government will also recover the salaries and other benefits paid to them so far, along with applicable interest.
The action follows a comprehensive investigation conducted by the Bihar Vigilance Bureau into teacher recruitment carried out between 2006 and 2015. The probe uncovered widespread irregularities, revealing that several candidates had obtained government teaching jobs by submitting forged certificates and degrees issued in the names of fake educational institutions.Based on the Vigilance Bureau's findings, criminal cases have already been registered against several individuals.
Officials also found that some teachers resigned from their posts after the investigation began, apparently fearing legal action. The state government has made it clear that even those who resigned during the course of the investigation will not be spared and will face legal proceedings if found guilty of securing employment through fraudulent means.
