There Is No Clarity on Fee Reimbursement in Telangana: Bandi Sanjay

There Is No Clarity on Fee Reimbursement in Telangana: Bandi Sanjay

BJP leader and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay has strongly criticized the Telangana government over the alleged delay in clearing fee reimbursement dues. He questioned the government’s focus on bringing foreign educational institutions to Telangana when, according to him, existing educational institutions are struggling due to pending payments.

Sanjay alleged that fee reimbursement dues have accumulated to nearly Rs.15,000 crore over the past five years, affecting thousands of intermediate, degree, engineering and nursing colleges across the state. He claimed that private college managements are facing difficulties in paying salaries, staff expenses and maintenance costs because of the pending reimbursements.

He further alleged that nearly 40 lakh students depend on the fee reimbursement scheme for higher education and that a large number of them belong to economically weaker and socially disadvantaged communities. According to Sanjay, delays in reimbursement are creating difficulties for students in obtaining certificates, applying for jobs and pursuing higher education.

Sanjay also recalled an earlier assurance by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy that fee reimbursement arrears would be settled through a one-time settlement and that payments would subsequently be made on time. He alleged that the promise has not been implemented and accused the Congress government of failing to address the issue adequately.

The BJP leader extended his support to the two-day protest being conducted under the leadership of Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao under the banner “Fee Dues – BJP Fight”. He said the party would continue its agitation until the pending reimbursements are cleared and warned that a larger statewide movement would be launched if the government fails to act.
