In a major relief measure for the farming community, Chief Minister Vijay has announced a large-scale farm loan waiver scheme. Under the initiative, agricultural loans of up to ₹75,000 taken through cooperative institutions will be waived. The decision is expected to provide financial assistance to nearly 14.43 lakh farmers, offering significant support to those struggling with agricultural debt.
The government estimates that the loan waiver scheme will impose a financial burden of approximately ₹5,932 crore on the state exchequer. Despite the substantial cost, the administration believes the measure will strengthen the rural economy, improve farmers’ financial stability, and boost agricultural productivity. The announcement has been welcomed by farmer groups and rural stakeholders across the state.
