The Telangana government has announced a major reduction in Metro-RTC combined travel pass prices as a Diwali gift to the people. Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar stated that the decision was taken under the directions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to reduce the financial burden on commuters and make public transportation more affordable and accessible.
As part of the revised fares, the daily combined travel pass price has been reduced from Rs. 400 to Rs. 275, comprising Rs. 200 for Metro travel and Rs. 75 for RTC services. The pass allows up to four single journeys per day. Similarly, the monthly pass price has been reduced from Rs. 8,500 to Rs. 4,000, with Rs. 3,000 allocated for Metro travel and Rs. 1,000 for RTC services. It allows a maximum of 50 round trips per month. Monthly pass holders can save Rs. 4,500, while daily pass users can save Rs. 125. The revised prices will come into effect on November 8, and the government has directed the concerned organisations to make the necessary arrangements.
