The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to launch ‘Mee Marts’ across the state on the lines of DMart. A total of 1,000 Mee Marts are planned across Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will formally launch the initiative on October 1. Minister Nadendla Manohar said that 970 shops have already been made ready, while work on the remaining 130 outlets is being expedited.
The minister said that Mee Marts are being introduced with a concept similar to DMart and are aimed at providing competition in the retail sector. Initially, 64 categories of essential goods will be made available at these outlets. The government aims to make everyday products accessible to people at affordable prices through the new retail network.
