Meta has announced major safety updates across Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger to enhance teen online security. With increasing concerns about teenagers’ excessive social media use, the company aims to provide a safer digital environment along with better parental control and awareness tools.
One of the key updates includes age-appropriate content settings for users aged 13 and above, limiting exposure to inappropriate content across feeds, reels, and groups. Meta has also introduced AI-based age detection that analyzes profile data, posts, comments, and even photos to estimate user age more accurately. Additionally, parents will receive alerts if teens repeatedly search for self-harm related content, and the new ‘Family Center’ allows monitoring of screen time and app usage in one place.
