Adilabad Airport Project Gets Push With Nodal Officers Appointed

The proposed Adilabad Joint-User Airfield (JUA) project has moved forward with the appointment of nodal officers by the Ministry of Defence and the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The officials will coordinate with the Telangana government and other stakeholders on the development of an Air Force Training Centre and an airfield that will serve both defence and civilian aviation requirements. Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy welcomed the development and called for faster coordination on the project.

The Defence Ministry is expected to develop infrastructure including trainer aircraft facilities, aircraft parking and dispersal areas, weather shelters, hangars, an operational complex, training facilities and maintenance infrastructure. On the civilian side, AAI plans to establish a civil terminal and a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility. The project will also require residential and recreational facilities for defence personnel, along with essential utilities such as water supply and sanitation. Kishan Reddy has urged the Telangana government to appoint a nodal officer to ensure smoother coordination among all stakeholders and help expedite implementation.
