Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), the country's leading insurance company, has reported strong financial results for the second quarter of the current financial year. The insurer's net profit increased by 20% to ₹12,076 crore, compared with ₹10,053 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Its premium income stood at ₹1,47,018 crore, while total income reached ₹2.62 lakh crore.
However, the first-year premium generated from new policies witnessed a slight decline during the quarter. Despite this moderation in new business premium, LIC recorded healthy growth in its net profit and reported a strong overall income figure. The quarterly performance highlights the company's financial progress during the period.
