

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged industry bodies to effectively leverage the opportunities arising from the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that India has signed with various countries. Speaking at the second webinar on the Union Budget 2026–27, he emphasized the need to accelerate investments, adopt advanced technologies and prioritize research and innovation. He noted that the world is looking for reliable manufacturing partners and asserted that India must strengthen its position in the global supply chain ecosystem.
Highlighting quality as the key mantra for benefiting from trade agreements, the Prime Minister stressed that there should be no compromise on standards. He underscored the importance of producing goods that meet international benchmarks, conducting extensive research and carefully studying the needs of other countries. Understanding consumer preferences and conveniences in target markets and designing products accordingly is essential, he said. In today’s competitive global environment, quality alone can provide India with a distinct advantage and enable the country to fully capitalize on opportunities created by FTAs.
The Prime Minister stated that India’s development path is clear enhance production and boost exports. However, he emphasized that meaningful outcomes can only be achieved through coordinated efforts among industries, financial institutions and state governments. Manufacturing, logistics, MSMEs and both small and large cities form the foundational pillars of India’s economy and are closely interconnected. He pointed out that reforms in MSME classification, record capital expenditure allocations for infrastructure and logistics and focused initiatives such as Rare Earth corridors, container manufacturing and the BioPharma Shakti Mission will collectively strengthen India’s industrial capabilities and position the country as a global hub for manufacturing and biologics.
