Festive Season Brings a Hiring Boom in E-Commerce

The festive season from Dussehra to Diwali is expected to bring a major boost to the e-commerce sector. Online sales worth around ₹1.5 lakh crore are estimated during the period, prompting e-commerce companies to ramp up hiring to handle the expected surge in orders. The rapid expansion of the quick commerce segment is also expected to create more employment opportunities during the festive period.

Employment generation in the e-commerce sector is projected to grow by 20% this year, creating around 270,000 jobs. Leading e-commerce company Amazon has announced that it has already hired 160,000 people across 400 cities. Hiring is expected to increase further in areas such as delivery, warehousing, logistics and customer service to meet festive demand.
