Centre's Master Plan to Reduce Road Accidents

The Central Government has proposed a new safety regulation to reduce road accidents by making Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) communication technology mandatory in all new vehicles manufactured from October 1, 2028. A draft notification has been released, inviting public suggestions and objections within 30 days.

The V2V system uses radio signals to exchange information such as vehicle speed and braking status with nearby vehicles. It can alert drivers if a vehicle ahead brakes suddenly or if another vehicle is approaching from the wrong direction. In situations where a collision is imminent, the system can automatically apply the brakes to help prevent accidents.
