

Bengaluru: To further increase the use of Agentic AI (Artificial Intelligence) services in India, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that the company has entered into strategic partnerships with major IT giants Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, and Cognizant. Nadella, who is currently touring India, revealed this during an event held in Bengaluru on Thursday. As part of these partnerships, Microsoft will provide a total of 2 lakh Copilot licenses, with 50,000 licenses allocated to each IT company. Nadella said that these licenses will enable employees of these IT firms to work faster and smarter through Microsoft Office and other products, ultimately helping boost overall company productivity.
Nadella stated that Microsoft will provide AI skills training to 20 million people in India. This initiative aims to prepare the country’s workforce for AI-driven industries and a digital tools–based economy. He said that while Microsoft continues to expand its digital infrastructure in India through large-scale investments, the company is also committed to building AI skills in the country. After meeting Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday, Nadella announced that Microsoft will invest $1.75 billion (₹1.58 lakh crore) in India’s AI sector by 2030 its largest investment in Asia.
Nadella said Microsoft is strongly committed to expanding India’s AI ecosystem through massive investments in digital infrastructure. He said the company is rapidly expanding its cloud network in India. Microsoft already has data centers in Pune, Chennai, and Mumbai, and plans to set up a new cloud region (data center) in Hyderabad by the end of the first half of next year. Currently, Microsoft operates over 70 data centers worldwide.
