WhatsApp Tests New iOS Chat Design With Rounder Message Bubbles and Borderless Media

WhatsApp is reportedly testing a refreshed message bubble design for its iOS app, giving chats a softer and more rounded appearance. The redesigned interface has been spotted in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 26.29.10.70 and is currently available to select TestFlight beta testers, according to WABetaInfo. Some users running the stable App Store version may also notice the change. Compared with the existing design, the new message bubbles feature noticeably rounder corners and appear closer to the style used in iMessage. The visual update also appears to complement Apple’s Liquid Glass design language.

The redesign is also expected to change how media appears inside WhatsApp conversations. Photos, videos and GIFs could be displayed without the traditional message bubble borders, resulting in a cleaner and more immersive appearance. WhatsApp has not officially announced when the redesigned bubbles will be rolled out to all iPhone users, but broader availability could follow as testing progresses. Meanwhile, the platform is reportedly developing other features, including an option to replace the two-step verification PIN with a password and expanded support for usernames across Android and iOS.
