The US House Select Committee on China has launched an investigation into national security and cybersecurity risks linked to the growing use of Chinese developed artificial intelligence models. Lawmakers raised concerns over low cost AI systems developed by several Chinese companies being integrated into global platforms.
Officials warned that such AI models could expose sensitive user data and create vulnerabilities in critical systems. They also expressed concern that Chinese firms, operating under state regulations, could be compelled to share collected data with the Chinese government, raising serious security and supply chain risks.
