Today, at the National Conference on Judicial Process Re-Engineering and Digital Transformation held in New Delhi, Surya Kant stated that technology has now become a constitutional instrument rather than just an administrative convenience. He emphasized that technology strengthens equality before law, improves access to justice, and enables the judiciary to overcome procedural rigidities. Highlighting the importance of adapting to changing times, he said the integration of technology is crucial for the evolution of judicial institutions.
During the event, Phase III of the e-Courts project, with an outlay of ₹7210 crore, was formally launched, aiming to make justice delivery seamless, inclusive, and accessible across the country. The two-day conference, organized by the e-Committee of the Supreme Court of India in collaboration with the Department of Justice, focused on ensuring that technological advancements bridge gaps rather than create barriers. Initiatives like e-filing, digitisation of records, and hybrid hearings were highlighted as key steps in modernising the judiciary and ensuring justice for all.
