Apple is reportedly exploring a partnership with Google to power the next generation of Siri. As the company faces challenges in scaling its AI infrastructure, it is considering using Google’s AI models and server technology to introduce advanced generative AI capabilities to Siri. Internal discussions suggest that Apple is evaluating multiple options to meet the growing demand for high-performance computing resources.
According to reports, Apple has asked Google to explore deploying its AI servers within Apple-controlled data centres. This approach would allow Google’s AI systems, including the Gemini model, to function inside Apple’s infrastructure rather than relying fully on Google’s public cloud. While no final agreement has been reached, Apple is focusing on balancing on-device processing for privacy with cloud-based solutions for handling more complex AI tasks.
Apple currently uses its Private Cloud Compute system to power certain AI features, ensuring that user data is processed temporarily and not stored after a response is delivered. The company has already confirmed plans to integrate Gemini as an optional AI provider within its ecosystem. CEO Tim Cook stated that Apple’s internal AI development will continue alongside this collaboration, aiming to deliver a more personalised and advanced Siri experience.
