

The inaugural season of the Women’s Andhra Premier League (WAPL) began in Mangalagiri with Amaravati E Champions registering a 17-run victory over Vizag Fire Birds. Batting first, Amaravati posted 163/4 in 20 overs, powered by an outstanding century from opener Parasa Ranga Lakshmi, who scored 102 off 74 balls with 14 fours and four sixes. Katragadda Dhanalakshmi provided valuable support with 43 off 30 balls, including two fours and three sixes. Vizag’s chase ended at 146/6, despite Vurukuti Pushpa Latha’s fighting 60 off 43 balls. Ayesha Singh scored 35 and Anjali Sarvani contributed 24, while Kandregula Devika, Ankam Vishnu Priya and Tarini Joshi picked up wickets for Amaravati.
Earlier in the day, Rayalaseema XEN Stars defeated Godavari Golden Eagles by seven wickets in the opening match. Godavari posted 116/7, with Henrietta Flavia Pereira top-scoring with 63. Rayalaseema chased down the target in 17.3 overs, with Vemulapati Setu Sai and Ellutla Padmaja making valuable contributions. Padmaja was named Player of the Match. The inaugural WAPL features four franchises and is being conducted by the Andhra Cricket Association at the ACA International Cricket Stadium in Mangalagiri.
