Team India Arrives in Sri Lanka

India, led by Shubman Gill, has arrived in Colombo for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, a crucial assignment in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). Except for top-order batter Sai Sudharsan, all 14 members of the squad have reached Sri Lanka. The first Test will be played in Galle from August 15, followed by the second Test in Colombo from August 23. India will also play a three-day practice match starting August 7. Currently placed fifth in the WTC standings with a points percentage of 48.15, India will look to strengthen its chances of reaching the final with a successful series.

Sai Sudharsan remains under medical observation after not fully recovering from his injury and did not travel with the team. If declared fit, he is expected to feature in the practice match. Meanwhile, the BCCI has appointed Shubadeep Ghosh as India's new fielding coach, replacing Hyderabad's T. Dilip. Ghosh, who has previously worked with the Indian women's team, India A, and Assam, begins his tenure with this series. The BCCI also thanked T. Dilip and former assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate for their valuable contributions.
