The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has uncovered an alleged international cyber fraud network operating through a fake call centre in Hyderabad. The gang, led by Harshal Rawal, reportedly targeted US citizens and carried out organised cyber scams for nearly three years. Rawal initially set up a fake call centre in Madhapur, Hyderabad. Following a police raid, the group shifted its operations to Patiala in Punjab, where it allegedly established another fraudulent call centre and continued targeting victims.
During the investigation, ED officials arrested Harshal Rawal, Pranav Pitadia and Chetan Munjal in Patiala and brought them to Hyderabad for further inquiry. Investigators suspect that the gang defrauded thousands of US citizens and used hundreds of mule bank accounts to move the proceeds. The accused allegedly received money from victims in the US through cryptocurrency and transferred funds through hawala channels. The ED suspects that the fraud network was involved in cryptocurrency transactions worth approximately ₹400 crore.
