Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has clarified the reasons behind conducting a fresh groundbreaking ceremony for her academy in Visakhapatnam. Responding to criticism, she said the earlier foundation ceremony, held during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, was organised with only seven hours' prior notice, preventing many of her family members, friends, and well-wishers from attending.
Sindhu further explained that, under the guidance of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the project was redesigned to develop the academy into a combined sports and educational institution. As the project was being relaunched, she wanted the ceremony to take place in the presence of people who had supported her throughout her journey, prompting the second groundbreaking event.
