Indian hurdler Jyothi Yarraji made a remarkable return to competitive athletics after recovering from a knee injury, securing qualification for the upcoming Asian Games at the National Inter-State Athletics Championships. Competing in her first tournament in nearly a year, the 26-year-old from Visakhapatnam clocked 13.14 seconds in the women's 100m hurdles heats, comfortably surpassing the Asian Games qualifying standard of 13.34 seconds. Her impressive performance marked a successful comeback after a prolonged injury layoff.
Yarraji, the silver medallist at the 2022 Asian Games, now looks set to represent India once again on the continental stage. Meanwhile, Asian champion and national record holder Gulveer Singh won the men's 5,000m race with a timing of 13:52.92, but narrowly missed the Asian Games qualifying mark of 13:39.18, despite finishing first in the event.
