The Board of Control for Cricket in India has reportedly expressed concern over viral videos showing several players spending time with their girlfriends during the Indian Premier League 2026. Cricketers like Hardik Pandya, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, and Arshdeep Singh are reportedly traveling with their partners even during match schedules. Some of these partners are social media influencers, and reports suggest that a few had previously promoted betting apps, raising concerns. Additionally, personal disputes involving certain players and their partners reportedly escalated to police complaints, causing embarrassment to both the IPL and the BCCI.
A BCCI official stated that if such practices are not controlled now, they could become problematic in the future. Instances of players waiting for their girlfriends near team buses and staying in the same hotels have been observed. While some players reportedly declared their partners officially, leading to informal approvals, there is no such rule in BCCI policy. As per existing guidelines, only wives and family members are permitted under certain restrictions. The board is now likely to initiate an inquiry into the matter to maintain discipline and protect the integrity of the tournament.
