Team India has suffered a major setback as star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will miss the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. Bumrah has been ruled out of the tour as his left knee discomfort has not fully recovered. Although he was included in the squad, selectors had made it clear that he would travel only after achieving complete fitness. His absence ahead of the August 4 departure is a big blow for India’s plans.
Bumrah’s knee issue was reportedly detected during preliminary assessments at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. The medical team advised him to focus on full recovery instead of rushing back into action. With several important series ahead, India wants Bumrah fully fit for future challenges. Aaqib Nabi is reportedly among the leading contenders to replace him after impressive performances in domestic cricket and India A matches.
