Indian opener Abhishek Sharma, once known for his explosive batting that terrified opposition bowlers, is currently going through a rough phase in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The destructive batter failed to open his account in the first three matches of the tournament against USA, Pakistan and Netherlands, registering a hat-trick of ducks. His poor run of form has raised concerns, as he could not score a single run in his debut T20 World Cup appearances.
The top-order batter’s struggle continues, marking his fifth duck in the last seven international T20 innings. Even a jersey change during the match against Netherlands failed to bring luck. With his latest dismissal, Sharma equalled an unwanted record held by Sanju Samson for the most ducks by an Indian batter in T20s in a calendar year, as both now stand with five ducks each.
