“Razor” revolves around Vishnu, a CCTV company owner whose surveillance camera accidentally records the murder of the Chief Minister. The crime is committed by the state Home Minister, who secretly plans to seize power. After discovering the footage, the minister’s gang kills Vishnu to erase evidence. However, Vishnu hides the crucial video before his death. His young daughter Teju witnesses the murder and becomes the next target. Razor, a dog caretaker with a mysterious past, steps in to protect the child and expose the truth while battling dangerous criminals.
The film’s major strength lies in its intense action sequences and fast-paced survival thriller narrative. Ravi Babu impresses with a rugged performance that perfectly suits the violent world of the film. The grey-toned visual palette creates a unique atmosphere, while the cinematography and background score elevate the tension effectively. The puzzle-like treatment involving the hidden CCTV footage keeps the audience engaged throughout.
The excessive violence and graphic bloodshed may not appeal to all audiences. Several scenes are extremely brutal and disturbing. Although the film focuses heavily on action, the emotional depth between the child and the protagonist feels underdeveloped. The storyline itself lacks freshness and often reminds viewers of films like “Marco” and “Kill.”
Technically, “Razor” stands out with strong visuals, effective action choreography, and gripping background music. Ravi Babu once again showcases his distinctive filmmaking style with a unique colour palette and stylish presentation. However, stronger emotional writing could have made the film more impactful.
“Razor” is a gritty survival action thriller packed with intense action and stylish visuals. While the violence may feel overwhelming at times, Ravi Babu’s performance and technical quality make it a decent watch for action movie lovers.
