Story:
Krisna Chaitanya alias Kittu (Raj Tarun) loses five lakh rupees in a Bitcoin scam and takes to driving a cab to recover his loss. During one ride, two contract killers eliminate their target, and Kittu narrowly escapes. As a result, local rowdy Murthy (Ajay Ghosh) and CI Ayyer (Nithin Prasanna) set their sights on him. What Kittu does to evade them, and why the film is titled Punch Minar, form the rest of the story.
Plus Points:
Raj Tarun’s lighter, comedic approach suits the material; his reactions during tense moments work well.
Ajay Ghosh and Brahmaji deliver solid performances in their respective serious and comic beats.
The second half maintains a steady pace, blending seriousness with humour effectively. The writing has enjoyable moments and several laugh-worthy sequences.
Minus Points:
The plot is predictable and feels familiar; viewers can foresee many developments.
Rashi Singh’s role is underwritten and doesn’t offer much scope, and Brahmaji’s talents are not fully utilised.
Some scenes in the second half feel unnecessary, and several comedy bits fall flat. Emotional depth is limited.
Technical Aspects:
Ram Kadumula plays it safe in terms of writing and execution; the film relies on tried-and-tested beats rather than bold experiments.
Aditya Javvadi’s cinematography is neat, Shekhar Chandra’s music is pleasant, and Praveen Pudi’s editing is sharp. Dialogues by Gorijala Sudhakar are effective. Production values are satisfactory.
Verdict:
Paanch Minar is an entertaining light crime-comedy that works in parts. Performances and comic moments deliver the main enjoyment, but a lack of strong twists, underused performers, and a predictable narrative keep it from being more memorable. If you want a breezy, low-stakes entertainer with a few laughs, this film will partly satisfy you.
Our Rating: 2.75/5
