Akshay (Aneesh) and Sana (Aarohi Narayan) are college mates. Sana secretly loves Akshay, while Akshay’s father (Rajeev Kanakala), a strict police officer, completely disapproves of love. In this situation, how Akshay falls for Sana, how his dream of becoming a cricketer gets affected, and how Sana’s obsessive behaviour troubles him forms the core of the story. During this phase, Akshay meets physiotherapist Nakshatra (Jaanvika), and eventually falls for her. The movie then showcases how this love triangle unfolds and the challenges Akshay faces.
Love OTP has some fun and heartfelt moments. The struggles of dealing with unwanted love, the realistic portrayal of toxic relationships, and the efforts of the hero to pursue true love connect well with youth. Scenes where Akshay gets caught between two women are engaging.
Aneesh delivers a decent performance, especially in the climax and emotional scenes. Aarohi Narayan’s acting stands out in the second half. Jaanvika also performs convincingly. Rajeev Kanakala impresses in his role as a police officer.
The director captures emotional scenes effectively in the second half, and the core theme is solid.
Though the film has youthful elements, the storyline and narration feel predictable. The director fails to use the core concept to its full potential. Stronger character development and a more gripping screenplay could have elevated the film.
The first half has a few enjoyable moments, but many scenes feel routine. The second half needed better conflict and intensity. The emotional touches help to some extent, but overall engagement dips due to weak writing.
As a director, Aneesh performs fairly well in some scenes but falls short as a writer. The screenplay lacks tightness. The music is decent, cinematography is visually pleasing, and the production values are good. The editing could have been sharper, trimming unnecessary scenes.
Love OTP is a youthful emotional drama with a few enjoyable comedy, love, and climax moments. The love triangle portions and certain fun sequences work well. However, weak screenplay and underdeveloped characters pull the film down. Overall, the film may appeal to young audiences looking for light-hearted romantic entertainment.
