

The West Bengal government has announced the allocation of portfolios to its newly appointed ministers. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has retained the Home Department under his direct supervision. Among the notable appointments is Kalita Majhi, who rose from humble beginnings by working in several households and recently secured a significant victory in the Assembly elections. She has now been entrusted with the responsibility of serving as Minister of State for Housing.
Kalita Majhi won the Ausgram Assembly constituency in Purba Bardhaman district by defeating the Trinamool Congress candidate with a margin of 12,535 votes. Meanwhile, former journalist-turned-politician Swapan Dasgupta has been assigned the Finance Department. Other key appointments include Tapas Roy for Industries and Commerce, Dilip Ghosh for Panchayati Raj, Rural Development and Agricultural Marketing, Agnimitra Paul for Urban Development, and Dr. Sharadwat Mukherjee for Health, among several others.
