US President Donald Trump has withdrawn the invitation extended to Canada to join the Gaza Peace Council, following Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s sharp criticism of Trump’s Greenland tariff policy at the Davos forum. Announcing the decision on social media, Trump described the Gaza Peace Council as one of the most prestigious international boards formed so far. The move has sparked widespread debate in diplomatic and political circles.
Speaking at the recent World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Carney warned that under US dominance, the world was moving toward fragmentation rather than transformation. He criticized the use of economic agreements as weapons and the enforcement of unequal trade rules by powerful nations. Echoing similar concerns, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon cautioned that Trump’s tariff-driven approach could ultimately harm the United States by eroding its global credibility, potentially prompting affected countries to unite. Dimon also cited Carney’s recent visit to China and the possibility of an upcoming visit to India as indicators of shifting global alignments.
